happy 3 months, Linc

There are a lot of words I could use to describe the last three months and everything I have enjoyed about them, but the word I think I’d use to describe the third month of your life would be “fun.”  I have so much fun with you!  You gave us your first big smile this month, and it was honestly one of the best days of my life.

- from mama’s three month letter to you

What you weigh – 8 lbs 9 oz.

What you eat
– nursing full time!

How you sleep
– Your sleeping habits are kind of like a roller coaster.  One week you sleep great and the next I feel like we have so much progress we need to make.  Overall, you just don’t need as much sleep as your sister.  I think if I would let you, you would try to stay up all day long and never take a nap!  Your daddy and I have to spend a lot of time soothing you before we put you down and you usually have to still spend a few minutes crying before you fall asleep.  You rarely sleep longer than about 30-45 minutes before waking up again, and only when we give you your pacifier will you go back to sleep. The good news is that we often get extra mama and Lincoln time while sissy is sleeping (shhh, don’t give us awayJ).  You sleep great at night though.  We are currently letting you go 5 hours between eating, then 4 hours, then 3, and you wake up at 7 or 7:30 each morning.  One time we overslept the alarm and you went 7 hours, and we still had to wake you up!  I hope this is a good sign about what will happen when we can let you sleep through the night.

What you wear – You are finally fully in 0-3 months clothes!  Sometimes I still try to stuff you into the up to 7 lbs. size, but I really need to let it go and get over my sadness of you growing out of your newborn clothes.

Diaper – Bum Genius newborn size.  We had to get some hemp inserts to put in your diapers because you need the absorbency of the bigger diapers, but they just don’t quite fit yet (and mama and daddy still need to buy them!).

Favorite activities – laying on your playmat, swinging, being held, going places

Least favorite activities -  waiting to eat, sleeping

Big moments in your third month of life – first smile, you rolled over from your front to your back for the first time!, first trip with mama and daddy to Dallas
