crazy days

What a crazy day it was over here!  So many changes happening with these little babies…I can hardy keep up!

Sissy finally decided she’s tired of sitting around watching Bubba explore everything.  She’s been able to crawl for about a week now, but she just didn’t quite have the motivation to do it much.  But today she really took off!  All those people that stop me on the street and say “you’ve got your hands full” – they are finally speaking truth!  Nothing cuter than our tiny girl army crawling from one end of the house to the other:)

In other news, we had to lower Linc’s crib mattress today.  I laid him down for his morning nap, and he had a little trouble getting settled in.  I heard him cry, so I picked up the monitor, only to see him standing up at the side of his crib!  It took a split second for me to get over how freaking cute he looked, and then I raced in to make sure he didn’t fall out on his head.

The days are getting busier now that everyone is on the move…but at the same time they’re getting more and more fun.  I love seeing them learn new things; the look of surprise on their faces when they do something new is priceless.  The days go by so fast, and I don’t even have time to think about being tired.  But by the time night comes and everyone is finally in bed, I’m ready to collapse.  Nevermind all the chores and work that still   need to be done.

No one ever said having one baby was easy, much less having two.  But those two have my heart and everything is so worth it!  Even when the dog bowls get dumped for the millionth time;)

Mama loves you, Linc and Viv!!

Oh, and just because I cannot get enough of him in this oversized baseball cap:

baby boy is 10 months

You are just such a busy little man.  I have come to cherish the moments when I get to cuddle you – like when you’ve just woken from your nap or when it’s time to go to bed.  Sometimes at night I sneak into the nursery and snatch you out of bed just so I can hold you close and breathe you in.  Every other moment of the day you are climbing all over me or trying to escape so you can go explore!

- from mama’s letter to you

What you weigh – Apparently your weight chart got up and walked off the countertop…but I will find it, I will!

What you eat  – You’re still nursing the same amount minus the dream feed.  Although you’ve stretched out your schedule to be about 4 hours between feedings now, which means your before bed nursing is only about an hour and a half after your dinner feeding.  So, I think we’ll probably be dropping one of those soon!  You’re still eating great!  We’re eating 3 meals a day now, and you take it very seriously!    Some new foods we’ve tried this month are chickpeas, black beans, split peas, cottage cheese, peaches, mango, quinoa, and several others.  I think you’ve gotten a little more picky this month, and I’m finding it kind of hard to keep giving you variety.  You would eat cottage cheese and sweet potatoes for every meal if I’d let you!  Although, the last few weeks we’ve had a problem with you throwing up.  We haven’t been able to really connect it to anything specific, although my latest theory is that maybe it’s dairy?  You don’t always throw up after dairy, but it seems that every time you’ve thrown up cottage cheese was one of the foods you’d just had.  I’m not sure, but I hate it when it happens.  You throw up quite a bit, and I know it makes you feel bad.  But usually within minutes you’re back to yourself again, laughing and trying to crawl away.  We took you to the doctor and she said it may just be that you are a boy who will throw up randomly.  I really hope that’s not true, for your sake and mine!:)

Of course, you also love to eat the remote….among other things.

How you sleep –  You are an amazing little sleeper!  We just dropped your third nap, so now you take a morning nap from about 9:45 to about 11 or 11:30.  Then you take another one from about 2-3:30.  Since we dropped the third nap, we moved your bedtime up about 30 minutes, so now we start baths about 7ish, and you go to bed around 7:30.  Most mornings you sleep in until about 7:30 or 7:45.   Sometimes I think you might even sleep longer if your sister didn’t wake you up!  You’re still sleeping on your tummy, thumb in mouth and a light blanket on your back.

What you wear – You’re now wearing 6-9 month clothes, and sometimes I feel like you’re even outgrowing those!  All of your shoes are starting to seem small too, but technically you’re still in a size 2.

Diaper – Bum Genius Freetime with 2 snaps left open in the middle.  We now put a hemp insert in overnight and during your morning nap so that your diaper doesn’t leak.

Favorite activities –Crawling!! (army crawling that is), exploring the house, getting into Olive’s food and water bowls, playing with the door stop, getting into the fireplace and tea light stand, eating, standing up (with assistance), taking your bath, being tickled, reading books, laughing, singing “if you’re happy and you know it”

Least favorite activities – having your face cleaned, sitting still, we’ve found you’re afraid of the vacuum and drive through car washes (because of the noise)

Big moments in your tenth month of life – started crawling!,  stopped taking your third nap, started pulling up, started eating 3 meals

he might as well be heading off to college

Little man finally decided he was sick of sitting around wishing he could reach this or that…and off he went!  This past Monday morning, I looked up to see him scooting across the floor like a little inch worm, and my mama heart swelled all up as I started cheering him on.

My baby is getting so big;  half the time I feel bipolar as I go from feeling so excited to see him do the next big thing, while the rest of the time I find myself nearly in tears because I feel like he might as well be moving off to college.

One thing is for sure – this boy doesn’t want to sit and cuddle with mama anymore.  He’s always gotta be on the go!  I’m so darn proud of him.  Tonight he fell asleep in my arms after nursing him before bed, and I just sat and stared at him for the longest time.  I know it sounds cliche, but my emotions can just almost not handle him growing and changing so much.  I know one day he will be too big to hold in my arms anymore, and until then I will be soaking up every second I have with him as my little baby.  They are too short.IMG_9952

happy nine months, baby boy

I literally would be thrilled if you just stayed this age forever…you are so much fun.  Lately, you laugh at anything and everything all the time.  I can give you just the slightest funny look and you will crack up.  When I get you laughing really hard, I look into your eyes and can never believe that you are truly mine.  I’m the luckiest mama in the world!

- from mama’s letter to you

What you weigh – 14 lbs. 7 oz.

What you eat
  – Still nursing the same amount minus the dream feed.  And you’re still eating solids like a champ!  We still have moments where we wonder if we should cut you off, haha.  You can really put away the food, baby boy.  Some new foods we’ve tried this month are asparagus, prunes, oatmeal, parsnips, leeks and a few others.  You like most things, and will eat at least some of almost anything we give you.  You still really don’t like peas, though.  You are your daddy’s son I supposeJ  We’ve moved up to eating both lunch and dinner now, and we’ll probably add in breakfast sometime soon.  You are so cute when you eat because you get so excited.  You breathe really hard and wave your arms and legs up and down.

How you sleep –You have been a perfect little sleeper this month.  Now that you aren’t having a dream feed anymore, you sleep almost 12 hours at night from about 8:30 ish to 7:30 ish.  You still take three naps, each one being an average of an hour and a half, sometimes shorter sometimes longer.  A week or so ago we had to put you down for the night for the first time unswaddled, and you didn’t skip a beat!  So now we have completely done away with the swaddle, and you seem like such a big boy when you sleep.  We put you down on your tummy as you seem to like it best, but throughout your naps/the night you roll and move all over your crib into all kinds of positions.  CuteJ

What you wear – 3-6 month clothes, some of which are getting a little tight!  You have had a serious growth spurt this month and have gotten noticeably bigger and heavier!  Your feet are also getting bigger, and you can just barely wear a size two.  They’re a little big, but have just enough room for you to grow into them.

Diaper – BumGenius Freetime with one to two rows of snaps left open in the middle.  Your diaper started leaking out the top overnight, and we couldn’t figure out why, so we started putting a hemp insert in at night.  Although, the last couple of nights we didn’t, and you did fine.

Favorite activities –Eating, standing up (with assistance), reaching for things, taking your bath, cuddling with mama or daddy, sitting up, being tickled, reading books, laughing, singing “if you’re happy and you know it”,

Least favorite activities – having your face cleaned and your nose blown.  You despise those two things, but that’s about it!

Big moments in your eighth month of life – first vacation (to Colorado), started eating dairy (plain yogurt), first big snow (in CO), first trip to the mountains, first time to sleep in your own bed all night, quite the dream feed, started sleeping separately from sissy at night, first trip to the zoo

you’re 8 months old, baby Linc

You are such a happy baby, and you laugh so much.  I am so excited for our relationship to grow more and more as you get older.  I think you are going to be just like your daddy, and I couldn’t be happier about that.  I love you so much Lincoln, and I thank God every day that he has let me be your mama for the best 8 months of my life.

What you weigh – 12 lbs. 11 oz.

What you eat
  – Still nursing the same amount!  Also started solids this month!  We’ve tried bananas, apples, plums, pears, green beans, brown rice, peas, barley, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, avocado.   Your favorites are sweet potatoes and avocado with a little apple mixed in.  Your least favorites are peas and green beans.  I keep trying to get you to eat them because I want you to like greens so much.  Hopefully you’ll start liking them more soon.  Right now we are only doing one meal a day around lunchtime.  You are such a little gentleman when you eat.  You rarely try to grab the spoon or put your hands in your face or anything.  You are super easy to feed most days.  I’m so excited for when you start wanting to feed yourself, but for now we’re just taking it nice and easy.

How you sleep –You go to sleep at about 8 or 8:30 at night and aside from us pulling you out of bed for your dreamfeed, you sleep until about 7 or 7:30.  Naps are great these days.  You take your first one around 9, your second one around 12:30 and your third one around 3:30.  They’re usually around an hour and a half, give or take 30 minutes.  You’ll sleep swaddled or unswaddled, which comes in handy when I need to wash your swaddle!

What you wear – 3-6 month clothes!

Diaper – BumGenius Freetime with one row of snaps left open in the middle

Favorite activities –Eating, standing up (with assistance), reaching for things, taking your bath, cuddling with mama or daddy, bathtime, sitting up, being tickled, reading books, laughing, singing “if you’re happy and you know it”, playing in your exersaucer

Least favorite activities – being laid down on your changing table when you’re hungry, waiting to eat, having your face cleaned.  That’s pretty much it!  You are a happy little babyJ

Big moments in your eighth month of life – started solids, started using your sippy cup (although you really just play with it still), started babbling (mamama)
